Euro Synthetic Oils - Synmax Classic - Hot Rod - Muscle Car - Sports Car Oils

These SYNMAX - Classic - Hot Rod - Muscle Car - Sports Car Oils are hardy oils with 1500 pppm zinc, 1500 ppm phosphorous, 500ppm synmax and DLA (diamond like additive). THESE OILS ARE FOR FLAT-TAPPET CAM AND/OR HIGH RPM ENGINES. Generally, these oils are aimed at older Classic - Hot Rod Muscle Cars - Sports Cars. More specifically, Air-Cooled Porches, Air-Cooled Volkswagens, Classic Cars, Hot Rods, Muscle Car and Sports Cars. Newer automobiles with the latest catalytic converters should avoid these oils because of their high ZDDP content. Although newer vehicles, with little "ENGINE BLOWBY", should experience minimal problems with these SYNMAX Classic oils. Moreover, do not forget that it is less expensive to replace a catalytic converter than an engine!

It is one of the few articles that can be found that offers a detailed and technical discussion without an attempt at selling a particular lubricant. Take a look at this "White Paper" and then make up your own mind about ZDDP and your particular application.


Before leaving the ZDDP issue, let us consider the following. Some individuals and firms will argue that high levels of ZDDP (1500ppm+-) foul combustion chambers, spark plugs, etc. Do not forget, that motor oils have had 1500 ppm (or more) of ZDDP for many years, and there were not "fouling" problems with these formulations. The reality is that because of Government mandates of lower emissions, more complex catalytic converters were required and produced. The government then mandated 120,000 mile (or more) minimum lives for these complex catalytic converters. This, in turn, forced automobile manufacturers and oil companies to "scramble" to meet these new minimums. The final result has been the continual reduction of ZDDP in motor oils to meet these catalytic converter life mandates. This was all at the apparent and continually emerging data that suggested reduced boundary lubrication; and therefore, increased wear on flat tappet cams, strongly loaded hi-performance roller cans, lifters (both solid & hydraulic) and other engine parts. These Classic - Hot Rod - Muscle Car - Sports Car Oils, are extremely desirable in light of the preceding rationale and in the applications noted.

As discussed in the SYNMAX Racing Oil page, "A GREAT OIL IS A BALANCED OIL". And that means that a great oil is one that has a correct balance of excellent base oils and excellent additives.
